Definition of AdWare
AdWare is a kind of FREE software which
advertises certain information when it is used.
One of AdWare's major features is that it contains some
unremovable information such as the information about auther's
Web site displayed in browser's status bar when Mark Qian's
Animator and Ad run (the information is displayed periodically).
Or it allows its users to use its full functions in a limited period.
Normally, AdWare has brothers and sisters - shareware or
regular software versions of the same product with more or better
functionality. Sometimes, AdWare is replaced by its brothers and
sisters when it gets popular.
Note: Adware versions also work as an unregistered versions of
shareware so that you can evaluate their features before
you register the shareware versions.
AdWare is defined by Mark Qian in 1996.
